SOCIAL DISCRIMINATION AND THE PSYCHO-SOCIAL WELL BEING OF ELDERLY IN GUJRAT

Social discrimination has established considerable research attention. concern about the social discrimination and its impacts to elderly people by unpaid family, relatives and friends has arisen in the contexts of altering demographic structures of the population. The researcher explains the relationship between social discrimination and psycho-social well being of thee elderly in UC 63 jalal purr jattan dist gujrat. A sample size of 110 respondents was selected through simple random sampling by using Taro yamani formulae. This was pretested by 10 respondents. After the data collection the researcher was use to analyze the data by using statistical package for social sciences. Results indicated that social discrimination has negative relation with the psycho social well being. Findings demonstrated that co residencies have greater effect on the performance of elderly people. Researcher suggested that the families should support and take care of the elderly at all stages of life as considered that they are a large part of their lives. The researcher also suggests that relations care is very necessary as social support improve a persons psycho-social well being.
